6 Months

Well, I hate to jinx it, but I think we might have finally turned a corner this month! The fussiness appears to have ended, woot woot! It's been a big month from new milestones to food and visitors!
With visits from Grandma Jackie, Charla, and Kristy, the month seemed to fly by! It was a big month in terms of physical development for Corabelle, even though she doesn't really roll over yet. She's done it once each way but just doesn't seem all that interested in it. Instead she'd prefer to roll to her side back and forth, which somehow gets her turned around in a circle to all her toys. Or, she'd prefer her sudden new-found sitting position. Just after 5 months she started sitting for 1-2 seconds with her arm to prop her up, but never seemed to get much past that until right around 6 months when she suddenly could sit on her own with no arm help for 5-10 seconds at a time! The jumperoo is also a huge hit, and you can find Corabelle jumping with a smile on her face for a long time!

 

Corabelle has become extremely interested in people's faces and it's not uncommon to see her grabbing the faces, eyes, glasses, etc. of whoever is holding her. Her fixation on people's faces transferred to fixation on watching us eat all month. I started her on food (BLW again) the week she turned 6 months, and so far she is a huge fan! She's had banana, green beans, and watermelon, and while not much has actually been ingested, she is loving being part of the table at meal times!

 

Since her fussiness is mostly gone, we are treated to her smily, bubbly personality even more now! We always knew she was a happy baby, but now we really know. She will laugh at just about anything, and almost always has a smile on her face, especially for big sister Emmeline, who has gotten great at building her towers to knock down. Corabelle has also started babbling more, even using consonants: ba and mamamama are common, along with general yells. She still loves songs (Row Row & Patty Cake are the two favorite at the moment), and reading books has become a new favorite pastime.

 

 

 

Somewhere in this month, she's sort of figured out naps. Most of them are generally still short, and we typically still take 4 a day, which is more than most 6 month olds, but occasionally we get 1-2 hour naps so hopefully those become more common place. She almost always goes down super easy for all of them though: quick book, song, lay down and walk out! Yay! Still a great night sleeper, generally 7-7, with a bit of variation: an occasional wake up between 5 and 6, sometimes for a feeding, sometimes just to talk before falling back asleep. Can't complain on that front (if only big sister could get on bored with night sleeping again...)
