Halloween Festivities

90 and sunny sure doesn't feel like Halloween, but at least there's less humidity? Texas falls are quite brutal, but that didn't stop us from having lots of Halloween fun! Emmeline still is a bit young to truly understand Halloween, but she LOVES pumpkins, cats, spiders, and ghosts this year. Her favorite books recently have been Halloween ones, so I think it's definitely a holiday she's going to love as she gets older!



Fall festivals started the month out for us. It was super hot at all of them, which meant we didn't stay long. Emmeline loved the train rides though, and this is probably where her love of pumpkins started! Grandma Julie and Grandpa Bill got to join in on some of this fun too.

Speaking of pumpkins, we carved a few both at home and with our new friends Ashley, Matt, and Benjamin who we met in our MyGym class. Emmeline was not a fan of the the seeds or the guts, but she did enjoy trying to scoop and carrying the pumpkins around afterward! :)

When I picked the Itsy Bitsy spider costume, it was because I thought it would be easy to make. By the time Halloween rolled around though, she loved spiders and loved pointing them out. So it was a very fitting costume! :)

We started the week of fun out with trick-or-treating at Town Green. It sounded like a great event...free trick-or-treating at tents of local businesses. In reality, it was hot and crowded and you had to wait in long lines to get candy at every tent. So we visited our MyGym teachers, got a cool steaming drink, and then took off the costume and sat along the waterway to chat with our friends! Ha! Emmeline's allergies started acting up this day, so she wasn't in the best mood for trick-or-treating anyway!

Then, Nick was off to Qatar, so Emmeline and I had Halloween fun the rest of the week. We went to the Halloween party at MyGym, which probably one of her favorite places in general, so of course we had a good time. Not only did she get to climb on everything, she got to ride the zip line, and find the spider that has changed locations every week in October, but she also got a cool new ball at the end!

A few days later, we had a Halloween party for Mothers of the Woodlands. While there was a kid's musician there, the young toddlers had a mind of their own, and we spent most of our time in the hallway chasing them around! All the babies from our baby play group are toddlers and walking now. It was just a year ago that I joined this group and met some awesome ladies! Although our play dates now involve more chasing and less chatting, it's still awesome to have this support system. And thanks to Clare, we get to have a mom's weekend away in December! Stay tuned!

Then, of course, Halloween itself. We joined Maddox and Mila again (although no picture this year!) for some fun in their neighborhood. Emmeline went to a few doors with Maddox and Mila (of course I didn't take any pictures), but mostly she loved running the streets and seeing if she could pet the dogs and cats that were out and about with families.
