Emmeline did SUCH a good job with the real tree, and just looking or gently touching ornaments. No issues, at all with pulling or taking things off! Way to go, little one! I did make her a felt tree of her own, which although wasn't her favorite thing in the world, did help give her something she felt like was her own and could do whatever she wanted with!
Lights and the big Christmas tree at Market Street were also a hit this year. She was so sad when the 5 minute show was over and kept signing for more and more!
Emmeline also got to help make cut-out cookies this year. She was much more attentive than I thought she might be, and she enjoyed both using the cookie cutters and decorating with sprinkles. And of course, sneaking a few bites at the same time! :)
And Santa, can't forget about him! I was curious to see how she would do with him this year, and it was about what I expected--lots of tears. The first time we saw him as at a library story time where he read some books and then stayed for pictures. She liked him from a distance, but as soon as she sat in his lap, she looked up, shook her head and started crying. When he wouldn't let her down, she got mad and cried even harder! A few nights later, our apartment complex hosted Santa and Mrs. Claus for stories, snacks, and photos. This time the tears didn't start for 15-20 seconds, so we were able to grab a few non-crying photos. Maybe next year she'll understand more! :) Although, it is a bit strange that we expect kids to sit on a strange man's lap and smile for a picture when you think about it!
Hmm….what happened to the tree?? Such a fun Christmas, and we are so excited for more as she grows older and understands more!
