2 Years

Oh 2 years! It's so weird how these past 2 years have seemed to fly by, and yet also were filled with some very long, challenging weeks and months. Corabelle is officially a little person now, talking, opinionated, and just wanted to be a big kid!

Teeth: 17
Words: Pretty much says everything! It's still a bit of her "own" pronunciation. Some of my favorites are: gapa (grandpa & grandma), I lu you (I love you), Em-een (Emmeline), don wan to (don't want to)

Favorites:
Foods: pasta, tacos, chicken legs, sushi, rice, sausage, bread, avocado, raisins, applesauce pouches, and all fruit. Veggies are hit or miss
Books: Dear Zoo, anything by Sandra Boynton, Brown Bear Brown Bear
Things to do: dance & sing (especially Let It Go), dump and pour things, take care of her babies, scooter, play with big sister, go on bike rides in the bike trailer
Loves: stuffed bunny lovies, music & dancing, Let It Go characters, dogs, stickers, putting things in and out, bubbles

 

Cora continues to be our super happy, smiling toddler. Until she's not. It's one or the other with her, there's not much middle ground. She's stubborn beyond belief and has no problem throwing a screaming tantrum for 20 minutes if she doesn't get her way. She loves Emmeline more than anything, and is quite upset when Emmeline leaves for a class, school, etc. Let It Go and anything Frozen have become favorites because she just wants to be like big sis.

 




Because she's been around big sister so much, her speech has been pretty advanced from an early age. Around 18 months, she started putting sounds together in sentences, like "Iyanda" (I want that). Why? has been a frequent question since 19 months, and she started using 2 word phrases like "me heh (help)" and "I fou (found)" consistently around the same time. She makes it known when she likes or doesn't like something "Nooooooo, heeyyyyy" (19 mo), "Yes" "yay yay yay yay" (20 mo). Around 21 months, she started saying "I luh (love) you", and at 23 months, she's talking in more complete sentences repeating almost everything we say.

 


Cora has gotten very into her babies (18 mo), and loves to feed them, carry them around and take them wherever we go (20 mo).  She finally figured out how to go down a slide by herself (19 mo), but prefers to swing rather than climb at the park, or just watch Emmeline do her thing! She's still very attached to mom (starting at 18 mo), even throwing tantrums if I leave her with dad. We are working on this slowly, but so far Emmeline has to be left with her for there to be no tears. She's very observant and likes to point out things to other people like airplanes and waterfalls (23 mo). She will often say "Emeen, ai-pane!" over and over until she's been acknowledged before turning to tell someone else the same thing.

 


Like her sister at this age, she's taken to telling us when she's about to poop/pee, and although sometimes she asks to sit on the potty, nothing has actually come out yet. Once we can devote some time to training her, I think she'll catch on quickly. Our normally good sleeper went through a major regression around 23 mo, which also coincided with our staying with friends in Houston for 6 weeks. Early wake ups, almost non-existent naps, and even some middle of the night visits to our bed, it seemed to drag on forever. Now, though, we are hopefully through the worst of it, though we still have 3 more molars to go, which was part of the problem!

We can't wait to see how her personality continues to develop over the next year. It's so fun to see her and Emmeline being able to play together for longer periods of time that don't always turn into fighting over something. What a two years it's been!
