The month of December is one of my favorites, and the tradition of our advent activity countdown becomes more and more fun every year as Emmeline understands more. She was very into the chain countdown this year, even helping to cut and put together the chain.
Of course, we started the season by decorating the tree. Our first year to not have a real tree, but with the humidity in Singapore we just couldn't do it. Instead we bought a mini tree complete with ornaments for only $30! Worked out perfectly for our needs, and Emmeline really enjoyed decorating the tree this year. Corabelle was intrigued, but more interested in trying to eat the lights.
Cookies, of course, were in order too, and Emmeline helped with every step: mixing, rolling, cutting, and decorating. Lots of frosting was consumed in the decorating portion!
We also enjoyed making a gingerbread house (quite difficult to find normal decorating options in Singapore!), a picnic around the Christmas tree, hot chocolate and a Christmas movie, a Christmas themed lunch, decorating wrapping paper, and making our own ornament (more favorite tradition so far).
And would Christmas preparations be complete without some visits to the beach? HA! When in Singapore, right?? It was actually quite an enjoyable way to spend a few hours each weekend leading up to Christmas, and the girls loved swimming in the water and playing in the sand. Just a bit weird to do that and come home to a Christmas tree set up!
