It's hard to believe it's been 1 week
since Corabelle made her appearance in the world! We are so glad we
got this extra week to spend with her since she came a week early!
It's been a week of adjustments for
everyone: back to less sleep for Mom and Dad, figuring out what this
baby thing really is like for Emmeline. Overall, though, everyone is
doing well! Corabelle is a very laid back baby so far who loves to
sleep. Like all day long. Her awake periods are very short and
infrequent, although she is finding her favorite awake time is
10-10:45pm, which is right when Mom and Dad would like her to be
going to bed! Oh well, it could be a lot worse; she has to be
woken up every 3-4 hours at night to nurse once she is asleep, so we
are getting some decent chunks of sleep.
When Corabelle is awake, she is very
alert and interested in everything, especially lights and shadows.
She turns to hear voices, and she is not a fan of tummy time at all
yet! She hates to be cold and undressed and will let you know, but as
soon as she is warm again, she instantly calms down!
Emmeline is doing pretty well. She
loves to help out with anything related to Corabelle, especially
diaper changes, bringing her a blanket, and squeezing her lamb toy
when Corabelle is awake. But, she's also a little bit thrown off,
napping only one out of every two or three days, throwing some pretty epic
tantrums (very out of the norm for her), and being a bit defiant.
This is compounded by the fact that we aren't letting her go many
places due to the flu, and the weather has made it difficult to go to
the park. We're just trying to give her a little extra one-on-one
attention and trying to remember that before long she will have adjusted just fine!
Corabelle had a few firsts this week,
though #secondkidproblems means that they all happened a bit later
than they probably did with Emmeline. First stroller walk, first
bath, first doctor appointment (this one was a bit frustrating for
Mom and Dad waiting long past our appointment when there are sick
kids everywhere!)
Next update will likely be a month since we are busy preparing for our move these next few weeks! :)
