Halloween & Fall Fun

Another year of fall and Halloween fun. Once again, the weather proved to be rather miserable for most of the month, but we still managed to have a blast celebrating the "fall" season! I let Emmeline choose what she wanted to be for Halloween this year, and after much back and forth between a buffalo (a highly discouraged this one, way too hot!), a cat, an owl, and a dinosaur, she finally landed on an owl. It was fun to make and turned out pretty cute!

The month started out with a few fall festivals. The Oak Ridge North festival is always a hit, and this year Emmeline was able to enjoy it a bit more. From balloon animals and train rides to face painting (ok, maybe she's not so sure about that one), it was a fun way to spend a (hot) morning.

The events before Hocus Pocus Pops at the pavilion are always a highlight, even if we were both sweating bullets in the first 20 minutes. She was a bit straight faced on the train, but she wanted to go on twice. Once again, we made a cute pumpkin, and this year she was able to participate in some of the games (even if she didn't quite get them). This is such a fun event!

The MOTW Halloween Party is always fun, and was a fun way to show off our costumes for the first time. With new babies starting to join our small mom group, it's not often we are able to get all of together with kids at the same time. While not quite everyone from our group made it, it was a larger group than we've had together in a while. It's so crazy that not that long ago these big kids were itty babies laying on the floor together once a week!

Nick and I decided to host a small get-together with some of the couples we are closest with. We lucked out with the weather, and had a weekend of super chilly temps, which lent itself well to outside activities. Pumpkin painting and the Halloween rice bin were highlights for the kids.

Halloween itself was very rainy, but we spent a fun morning at the children's museum Spooktacular. Lots of fun games, activities, crafts, and singing and dancing to celebrate Halloween. Topped off with McDonald's with Everett, what a morning!

This was the first year Emmeline was really able to grasp the concept of trick or treating. Sadly, the rain started pretty heavily around 4pm, but just after 6, there was a slight let-up, so we decided to venture out with the umbrella. There weren't many people out, but Emmeline could care less. She loved knocking on the doors, and she quickly learned to point out houses with lights on by the doors that we should walk up to. The child who asks to be carried after 3 minutes of walking, walked the entire loop of our neighborhood with no complaints. She was in heaven. Even when it started pouring 20 minutes into the night, she could care less and was happy as ever to continue. We eventually decided to go back home and hand out candy, which was just as exciting. She eagerly ran to the door each time there was a knock. I think we may have a Halloween fan on our hands! :)
